Xbox 360 Controller Faceplate Giants

Nintendo is one of the oldest video game companies around. Anyone of my generation will likely collapse into dewy-eyed nostalgia at the mere mention of the ‘SNES’ console, or the ever-popular Super Mario Bros games. But the times, not to mention the technology, have moved on. With home electronics giants Sony recognizing the adult potential of video games and shattering the market with the ‘PlayStation’ in the mid 90s.

Then computer goliaths Microsoft joining the fray with the ‘Xbox’ console in the early 2000s; the marketplace is now more crowded than ever. Good news for consumers, then, but perhaps less than thrilling for a company that started over a hundred years ago, making greetings cards. By the late 90s Nintendo machines were starting to look like a pair of tie-dyed bell bottoms at a punk gig.

Now, here in this brave new age, Nintendo have picked themselves up and dusted themselves off, surviving the same storm that pretty much sunk their main 80s rival Sega, along with many others. PlayStation and Xbox may have ‘Halo’ or ‘Assassin’s Creed’ but Nintendo has the family image still. While PlayStation owners were beating each other to a pulp on ‘Tekken’, spilling blood and gore on ‘Resident Evil’ or selecting the ‘bounce’ option on a female character’s…um…lady bumps in ‘Dead or Alive’ Nintendo were racing go-carts, throwing turnips at ghosts and generally providing a very sanitised, clean option.

This ‘safe’ stance that once made the corporation seem painfully dated has paid-off in the end, however. Nintendo neither suffers from the nerd stigma that clings like a bad smell to Xboxers nor the adolescent peter-pan complex that imbues the public image of PlayStation users. In short, Nintendo have grown up and may yet emerge as the true industry kings as a result.

Retiring its kid-friendly Game Boy (who didn’t have one? Show of hands?) in favour of the clean-shaven, polite, fashionable ‘DS’ was an inspired move. The ‘Brain Training’ or ‘Sudoku’ games, logic puzzles and others cornered a thoroughly neglected market, not just in games, but in electronics as well. The ad campaigns featured professional people in suits and ties playing games at bus stops and train stations. In short, it may not be ‘cool’ in gamer terms, but it IS big and it IS clever.

Nintendo fought their dated image with a truly 21st century battle plan. The Wii is the next phase in this onslaught. It lacks the peer-to-peer features of Xbox, the graphics or playability of the PlayStation, but what it does provide is competitive, easy-to pick-up and put-down arcade-style games that the whole family can enjoy. And it has a wireless controller that mimics whatever you do in real life, right there on the screen in front of you. The whole family is now covered, fitness programs for Mum, bowling for Dad and, as always, Mario for the kids.

Xbox 360 Wired Controller Pc

The Xbox 360 controller with a rapid fire mod is a “must have” for all serious gamers. This mod on either your wired or wireless controller will turn any weapon into an automatic when pressing the button to fire. On weapons that are already automatic in the game, you may not notice a significant difference in the firing but this mod will make your weapon more accurate, as it eliminates much of the recoil. It allows you to shoot weapons that require you to push the R Trigger over and over much faster than the average person. Annihilate your competition when you have a rapid fire controller for your Xbox 360. These controllers work with many of the hottest games right now such as Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament 3, Halo 2 & 3, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and any game where you need to shoot faster!

How do you get a controller with the rapid fire mod? Quite simply, if you are handy with electronics and are proficient in soldering, you can buy a kit and install the rapid fire mod yourself. It’s a great way to pick up some extra cash by modding the controllers and selling to others who do not know how to do the mod themselves. The kits usually contain a pre-programmed microchip, a transistor, resistors, 2 buttons and wire. If you are not comfortable in doing this, there are many people who sell the Xbox 360 controllers that have the mod already installed for you or who will mod your controller for you.

There are differences in the rapid fire mods available. A dual rapid fire controller has a second button that controls the left trigger to be used with first person shooter games that have the ability to dual wield. This type of controller is also compatible with games that do not dual wield. Some modded controllers also include a speed control feature that you can use to adjust the speed of the controller to your liking. Most modded controllers also come with the rumble feature that you can feel in your hand while you’re blasting away at your opponent. A single rapid fire controller only has one button located on the bottom right side of the controller. If you want to shoot a gun with the rapid fire you would press and hold the button. If you want the gun to shoot normally you would pull the trigger.

The Xbox Kinect allows a revolutionary wire-free game-play experience. Designed to compete with the Sony PlayStation Move and Nintendo’s established Wii games console, we take a look at the origins of the Kinect system and review compatibility with older Xbox 360 consoles. We also review the best new games and look at the Kinect launch titles.

Origins of Microsoft’s Kinect

Kinect was announced by Microsoft at the E3 technology show on 1 June 2009. At the presentation three demos were shown to showcase the system, these being Ricochet, Paint Party and Milo & Kate. A demo-only version of Burnout Paradise was also shown at he show.

Project Natal formally became Kinect at the 2010 E3 show where the redesigned Xbox 360 was also announced. This new version of the console has the additional Aux port to combine the USB data and power supplies required by the Kinect.

Kinect Compatibility

Microsoft has confirmed that the Kinect system will be fully compatible with all versions of the Xbox 360 console sold since its original release. It would appear that the new motion control system will considerably extend the product life of the Xbox 360 system. Combined with the recent refresh of the product line, the console should not see a replacement until around 2015.

Xbox Kinect Games

Although existing games were adapted during the development process (including Beautiful Katamari and Space Invaders Extreme), it is understood that to modify current games for use with the Kinect system via a downloadable patch would take to much work. New titles will be released in time for the Kinect launch in order to take advantage of the new system.

In addition to game control, Kinect allows users to control the Xbox 360 Dashboard using both voice commands and hand gestures with voice and facial recognition potentially being used to automatically identify users whilst Video Kinect permits voice or video chat with via Windows Live Messenger or with other Xbox 360 users. Other uses for the Kinect control system include interaction with ESPN and Zune using Xbox Live.

Kinect Launch Titles

So far fifteen launch games have been announced by Microsoft. These are Sonic Free Riders from Sega, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, Kinect Joy Ride and Kinect Sports from Microsoft Game Studios, Dance Central by MTV Games, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and Motion Sports from Ubisoft, EA Sports Active 2 from EA, Dance Masters and Adrenalin Misfits from Konami, Zumba Fitness from Majesco, Deca Sports Freedom from Hudson, The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout from THQ and Game Party: In Motion from entertainment giant Warner Bros.

In addition to the already announced games, other developers including Activision Blizzard, Bethesda Softworks, Capcom, Disney Interactive, Namco Bandai, Square Enix and THQ Inc.

Xbox 360 Modded Controller Jitter

Modded Xbox 360 Controller?

Modded controller, rapid fire controller, turbo mod; There are many names for these special controllers that basically enable you to convert a single-fire weapon in your favorite first person shooter game into an automatic weapon. There are a few different types of modded controllers so let’s take a look at them first. In the following paragraphs we’ll tell you how you can get your hands on them and in what situations and types of games you can use these “rapid fire controllers”.

Types of Rapid Fire Controller Mods

There are two major styles or types of rapidfire controllers: the button style mod and trigger (stealth) mods. Both are good mods and both offer certain advantages during gameplay.

Rapid Fire Button Mods

The first style of mod that we’re going to discuss are button style mods. Essentially, the term “button”, refers to the buttons on the back of the modded controller that control the rapid fire function of the controller. Some button mods require you to hold down the button while holding down the trigger on your controller to enable the mod. These types of mods are regarded as inferior to other types of controller mods because you always have to hold down the button for the rapidfire to work.

The other type of button mod is called a trigger button mod. Basically, this type of controller allows you to use the buttons to turn on the mod itself, as well as change modes. For this type of mod, all that is required is a simple button press to turn the rapid fire on or off. These mods are great for those that need quick on/off operation of their mod for situations like switching to a sniper rifle in a game, in which case you don’t want the mod on or else your shots will be inaccurate.

That’s pretty much it for the “button” style mods. Now lets take a look at their sleeker, more stealth brother: trigger rapid fire mods.

Trigger Rapid Fire Controller Mods

Trigger mods enable a rapid fire modded controller to have all the same functionality as a button mod, except there are no external buttons. These types of modded controllers can be activated in many ways. Most good modded controllers use the existing sync button on the top of the controller. You might be asking yourself, “On the sync button? How does that work? Won’t the controller sync when you activate the mod?” Not exactly. These controllers require you to “tap”, not hold, the sync button to turn on the mod and switch modes. Try it yourself: go pick up your Xbox 360 controller, turn it on and tap the sync button. Nothing happens. That’s what’s awesome about these types of rapid fire controllers, you can change modes that fast.

In What Kinds of Games are Modded Controllers Useful?

When most people think about modded controllers or rapid fire controller mods, they think about Call of Duty games like World at War or Modern Warfare 2. Most first-person shooter games, like the Call of Duty series, have in-game weapons that are not automatic but are single fire only. This is where the mod controller comes in. These controllers will transform those boring single-fire weapons into full blown automatic weapons with rapid fire!

For example, the M1A1 Carbine in COD:World at War or the FAL in COD:Modern Warfare 2. Before, you had to manually press down the right trigger on your controller and the in-game weapon would fire only once per right trigger pull. With most quality controllers, you can hold down the trigger and your gun will fire like an automatic.

You can also find modded Xbox 360 controllers useful in other fps games like Left 4 Dead 2, GTA IV, Gears of War 2, and a ton of others.

As you can imagine, the controller mods described in this article can result in a huge advantage when playing the game. They also make those boring single-fire weapons into something new, something more fun!

Xbox 360 Cables Av

An S-Video AV cable is most commonly used with game consoles, such as the Xbox 360. It is one of two compatible cables that can be used with the Xbox: the other cable being the Xbox 360 component HD AV cable. The best visual performance comes from the Xbox 260 component HD AV cable, as it has been specifically developed for use with large screen, high resolution plasma and LCD TVs. The difference is that the Xbox 360 component HD AV cable converts the signal from the Xbox 360 into its red, green and blue components and is capable of achieving 720p and 1080i gaming output. It can also allow progressive scan DVD playback at a resolution of 480p. For older TV models, the Xbox 360 component HD AV cable comes with a composite video output built in as well as stereo audio outputs. When using the Xbox 360 component HD AV cable with standard definition TV, make sure you connect the yellow composite connector and set the HDTV switch to STD (standard).

However, if your TV has S-Video capability, then this cable offers an enhanced performance for your Xbox 360 over composite video, as S-Video is capable of offering a far superior picture. This makes music, gaming and video a much more enjoyable experience. And, it can even offer Dolby Digital 5.1 sound functionality

There are several steps to successfully attaching the Xbox 360 S-Video AV cable to your TV and audio system. Firstly, make sure the Xbox console is switched off. Secondly, connect the AV connector on the S-Video cable to the AV port on the console. Next, connect the S-Video connector on the S-Video AV cable to the S-Video input on the TV, remembering to leave the yellow composite video connector unconnected, as you don’t want composite video. Finally, connect the left and right (red and white) audio connectors on the S-Video cable to the sound inputs on the TV, amplifier, receiver or home entertainment system. ThatÆs all there is to it. Just remember to set the correct resolution in the console menu on the Xbox 360. YouÆll find this parameter in the system settings menu.

To improve the gaming experience further you can add digital audio capability by using a digital audio cable in conjunction with your S-Video AV cable. Simply connect the S/PDIF optical cable (also known as a Toslink) to the digital audio input on the TV and to the digital audio output on the console of the Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 Old Version

So Microsoft have released a new version of the Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 slim and here we will see if it is worth buying over the original Xbox 360s.

The Xbox 360 has a Black matte case, with two fans on the back, 3 USB ports and a detachable hard drive (the different sizes are 20GB, 60GB, 120GB and 250GB). Now the new Xbox 360 slim has a black gloss finish, a new angular design which looks amazing, Touch sensitive buttons, 1 fan, built in 802.11n Wi-Fi, built in 250GB hard drive and 5 USB ports.

Now lets compare that in more detail.

So the original Xbox 360 models have a matte finish, which is fine, but looking at the matte finish it doesn’t look as aesthetically pleasing as the gloss finish that you find on the new Xbox 360 slim, the reason behind the gloss finish is because Microsoft thought it was time to move away from the matte finish as the original Xbox as well as the Xbox 360 both had a matte finish.

The new Xbox 360 slim has touch sensitive buttons, which is the standard on most new gadgets now, so it was only a natural move up from the old button style that they had on the Xbox 360.

Now the old Xbox 360 models may have had 2 fans on the back, but if you think about it, there position was not the best place, and most of them couldn’t handle the amount of heat that was being generated inside the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 slim on the other hand, has 1 fan, but it is larger then the two fans found on the Xbox 360, and it is also better positioned, meaning that it will keep your Xbox 360 slim much cooler, the best part about the fan on the Xbox 360 slim is that it is silent running! no more loud humming when your playing games or watching movies!

The Xbox 360 slim has 5 USB ports compared to the 3 USB ports that you found on the old Xbox 360 models, 1 of the USB ports that you find on the Xbox 360 S also delivers more power then the rest and this is specially there for use with the new hands free controller system Kinetic!

The Xbox 360 has a hard drive which is on the outside of the console, and not all versions come with a hard drive! But, the Xbox 360 slim comes with a built in hard drive of 250GB! Now you will be spending a few years trying to even get close to filling that hard drive up!

One more advantage of the Xbox 360 slim is that is has built in 802.11n Wi-Fi! which means you no longer have to go out and buy the wireless accessories, meaning you can just pocket that money or go out and buy some more games! As you can see, the Xbox 360 slim has won this fight, so make sure to get yours!

Xbox 360 Nba Live 08

If you haven’t played any of the NBA games that have been out over the recent years, then you are missing out on some of the greatest games that you could ever play. I am a huge basketball fan but was highly disappointed in the quality of the games that were coming out. It seemed like everything out there had glitches of some kind or the game play as just shall I say “Unreal”.

Then comes the NBA 2K series (around 2k7) that changed it all. From custom player attributes, to authentic shooting styles, I can’t get enough of these games. Once I started to play it, I was hooked.

This game is also great if you want to challenge friends in a gaming tournament because the graphics are second to none and the game play is as smooth as silk.

Also, with the popularity of Xbox live, you can go on the internet and battle with others from all across the world. I have done this many times and be warned…there are a lot of really good players out there that can beat you! I have played in many games on live that went down to the wire only to have me lose in the end.

This game has many features such as streets and all star games that has the NBA’s best on the court so you can play with all of them at once. I really like how real it looks. That is what gets me all the time. Especially if you’re playing on a big screen LCD tv. Wow…what a picture!

This gaming platform is expanding greatly and I am happy every time I turn on this game and play it for a couple of hours. It’s a wonderful game and the creators should be very proud the NBA 2k franchise. It will remain one of the best basketball games out there until someone comes and takes their thrown, which I am almost possible that is not going to happen.

Xbox 360 Power Brick 175W

Has your xbox 360 power supply suddenly gone from a solid green colour to a flashing orange? Obviously you will no doubt want to know just what this means right, well the official line from Microsoft is your xbox 360 is overheating and may need to be sent to an xbox repair centre. Microsoft denies that there are any “systemic issues” with console units.

Even though the xbox 360 power supply has its own dedicated internal cooling fans it seems this isn’t efficiently drawing in enough cool air to do the job it was intended for. When you think about the noise the xbox 360 power supply generates from the internal fans you would think the chances of it overheating would be quit slim. Don’t Panic if you do get the flashing orange light though, there are some steps you can take to avoid this from happening in the first place.

  • Make sure to leave plenty room around the Xbox 360 Power Supply when setting up your system. If the external air vents are not blocked the power supplys two internal fans can draw in the maximuim air flow.
  • If you can place the Power Supply in a place away from other sources of heat.
  • Do not be tempted to stack other electrical devices on top of the power supply unit, this will defenitly raise the tempiture of the unit.
  • Avoid placing the unit on thick carpet, try keeping it on a solid surface.

Don’t get the Xbox 360 Power Supply problem mixed up with another problem related to the Xbox which is called the “red ring of death”. This fault revolves around the console unit itself and not the power supply unit. The “red ring of death” is also referred to as the ” xbox 360 three red lights” fault and “the red ring of fire”. If you continue to have problems with your Xbox freezing and crashing after ensuring the PSU is well ventilated, at least you have now ruled out PSU as the cause of your problems.

For more information on fixing your Microsoft Xbox 360 and information regarging the Xbox 360 power supply unit see [http://www.xphelp.org.uk/xbox-360-power-supply.html]
