In an interview with Eurogamer, Autumn Games co-founder Jason Donnel has confirmed that a PC port of Skullgirls is in development. While the team at Reverge had made mention of a possible PC port, this is the first time we’ve heard anything from the game’s publisher on it actually being developed for the platform. “Since the day we announced Skullgirls, many gamers have been asking for news of a PC release. With the console versions recently launched, Reverge Labs is turning its focus to updating the game and bringing Skullgirls’ action to PC gamers.” In addition to this, Donnel has also mentioned that they were “thrilled” with the game’s reception as well as the amount of support and feedback that they’ve received from the community on how to improve the game. UPDATE: Autumn Games also dropped an official press release detailing where the game would land, which includes Steam and GameFly, as well as the additional features they plan to implement. Los Angeles – May 2, 2012 – PC gamers, get your fight sticks ready – Autumn Games’ and Reverge Labs’ hit indie fighting game, Skullgirls , will be available for Windows® PC via leading digital distribution services later this year following its recent launch on high-definition home console systems. Incorporated in the PC version will be updates to the game including in-game movelists, additional tutorials, retuned single player AI, enhanced leaderboards, in-game name display for online matches, and additional multi-player regions. These updates, along with platform-specific fixes, will be made available as free updates for the console versions of the game. “Since the day we announced Skullgirls, many gamers have been asking for news of a PC release,” said Jason Donnell, president and COO, Autumn Games. “With the console versions recently launched, Reverge Labs is turning its focus to updating the game and bringing Skullgirls’ action to PC gamers. We’re thrilled with the very positive reception the game has received, and the great support and feedback we’ve been getting from the community on a number of ways to make the game even better, and we’re excited to be working on answering those requests.” The PC version of Skullgirls will be available for download through GameFly, GamersGate, GameStop PC Downloads, Origin TM, and Steam. Skullgirls puts players in control of fierce female warriors in an extraordinary Dark Deco world. Fighters battle it out for control of a mysterious artifact known as the Skull Heart, which has the power to grant the victor’s wishes. Those judged impure are transformed into the fearful instrument of their twisted wish – a pale and lovely tempest, a beautiful nightmare – the Skullgirl! The team is led by renowned fighting game champion Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont and artist Alex “o_8” Ahad, whose work has been featured in many publications, including Lava Punch and Girls of Gaming. Why I Support Microsoft’s $99 Xbox 360 (And Why You Should, Too) – SlashGear
Looking around the gaming space right now, there is an awful lot of controversy surrounding Microsoft’s recently announced decision to offer its Xbox 360 4GB console with Kinect for $99. In order to get that price, customers must sign up for two years of Xbox Live Gold and pay $15 per month. According to critics, such pricing can lead to the unraveling of the console market as we know it. Going forward, they say, customers will be forced into online services just to get better pricing on a device. What’s worse, it could see console makers push their prices up, similar to the way carriers do when customers opt to buy a smartphone contract-free, they say. As I’ve said here countless times before, I’m an old-school gamer that feels a strong connection to history. I don’t like the way the industry is moving today, and I think we should go back to the old ways of doing things. But in this case, I’m more than happy to see Microsoft change how consoles are priced. Look, I know that there’s a chance that the deal could be more expensive to customers than simply buying the standalone console, since they’ll be forced to pay for two years of service, but in the Xbox ecosystem, the vast majority of people are paying for online gaming, anyway. We also can’t forget that the monthly service adds value. With Xbox Live Gold, users can play games online, access additional content, and otherwise enjoy a pretty well-rounded experience in the console space. Xbox Live is, as far as I’m concerned, the best online service on the market. “Remember the $599 PlayStation 3?” I’m not sure why so many gaming fans are so upset with paying less to get their hands on hardware. For years, we’ve been upset because consoles launch at exorbitantly high price tags, just so companies can come close to making a profit on each console they sell. Remember the $599 PlayStation 3? How many of the same critics complaining about the $99 Xbox 360 were upset with Sony for that one? You can’t have it both ways. So, say what you will about how it might change the console market or impact how consumers buy products, but I think it’s better for all of us. Sure, the total cash outlay over the long-term could be quite high, but the biggest barrier to entry in gaming is console pricing. And thanks to Microsoft’s new move, pricing might not be so bad any longer. Good job thinking outside the box, Microsoft.

The Pros and Cons of the Nintendo DS Lite
The Nintendo DS Lite seems to be on our screens quite a lot lately with advertisement after advertisement and though it’s raining here in Wales UK, it is actually summer time. And in summer time folk are more willing to go out with their Nintendo DS Lite. But is it for everyone? What’s its pros and cons? If you own a DS Lite you will probably know all its features and specifications and what you think is good and bad, but for others who are thinking of buying one, you will want to know the pros and cons before hand. The unique design of the DS Lite is very appealing to the general public and that’s a good start together with it’s two screens one of which is touch screen. The DS uses cartridges with up to 1 GB of storage capacity allowing lots of storage for the superb games. The battery power is superb and will last you for up to ten hours. The price for the DS Lite at the time of writing is around 90 – 99 and most people agree that’s not a bad price. Now for the cons. Some folk may find the PSP console better in design than the DS Lite but that is an opinion of course. The cartridges used in the DS Lite are more expensive than discs which are used elsewhere and they don’t have the quality edge on graphics. Though the graphics are not of top quality and the cartridges just a tad expensive, the DS Lite itself is inexpensive with excellent battery power and superb games. Most gamers prefer the Nintendo DS Lite to the PSP console because as you can see, the pros of the DS Lite certainly outweigh it’s cons.
